About
Gustavo Ernesto León Rodríguez is a multidisciplinary artist from Caracas, Venezuela, specializing in performance, action art, and installations that explore the intersection between art, spirituality, and deep ecology. With training in Visual Arts at institutions such as the Cristóbal Rojas School of Visual Arts and the Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE), León has developed an artistic practice that integrates ritual elements, alchemical philosophy, and Eastern somatic practices. His work investigates the transformative potential of art as a vehicle for both individual and collective healing. As a professor at UNEARTE and director of the civil association Cinco Umbrales, León has driven projects that combine ecological activism with contemporary artistic practices. His series 'Agnihotra: A Social Sculpture' exemplifies his approach, using ancestral fire rituals as a metaphor for social and ecological transformation. León has presented his work at important Venezuelan institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), Alejandro Otero Museum (MAO), and Afro-American Museum (MAA). His most recent performances include 'Nomadic Rituals' and 'Healing the Waters,' which explore the relationship between body, territory, and ancestral memory through collaborative actions involving local communities and international artists.
